Hey Guys, I’ve recently bought a JZ133 crown it’s pretty low ks and has been sitting for a while but it does need some love and Im wondering where I should go to get 12361-46090 front engine mounts because they’ve been discontinued and I’ve looked everywhere and right now my only option seems to be buying them in bulk from alibaba or other manufacturers which I don’t really want to do, is a polyurethane rebuild a good way to go and what are any tips. Also looking for a rear centre console latch (72809-30040-JO) if you know where I could get one please let me know. Thanks
You're facing a common challenge with a classic car, where original parts are no longer made. The key to finding what you need is to look beyond the typical retail channels and consider alternative solutions.
Engine Mounts
It's not surprising that the 12361-46090 front engine mounts for your Crown have been discontinued. The best way to get new mounts is to use a polyurethane rebuild kit. This is an excellent option for several reasons. Polyurethane is a very durable material that will last a long time, and a rebuild kit will save you from having to buy a bulk order from a manufacturer. Many companies specialize in custom polyurethane parts, so you can often send them your old mounts, and they will rebuild them for you. A polyurethane rebuild is a good way to go because it's cost-effective and will likely give you a stronger, more reliable mount than the original.
Another option is to check with aftermarket parts suppliers that specialize in classic Japanese cars. They often have new-old-stock parts that have been sitting on a shelf for years, or they might even have a new part that's been reverse-engineered from the original. You can try a search on forums and social media groups dedicated to your specific model, as members often know where to find these hard-to-find parts.
Rear Centre Console Latch
The rear centre console latch, part number 72809-30040-JO, is also likely to be a discontinued part. The best way to find a replacement is to look at online auto parts recyclers and in a junkyard. You can also try searching on eBay and other online marketplaces for used parts. These places are often a treasure trove for discontinued parts.
Another option is to use a 3D printer. If you can find the dimensions of the part or create a 3D model, you can have a new latch printed for you. This is a good way to get a new part that will fit perfectly and will last a long time.
