This will be the second addition to the Crown range in North America, and the fourth in Japan
Toyota published a teaser of a new “all-wheel-drive hybrid electric mid-size SUV” that will soon be available in the US market. The model appears to be the production version of the Crown Estate concept which had previously been confirmed for a Japan debut in 2024. The single teaser shot is focused on a small portion of the SUV’s tail. Thankfully, this is more than enough to identify it. The horizontally mounted full-width LED taillights and the lines of the tailgate and bumper match those of the Toyota Crown Estate prototype which was originally unveiled in July 2022 alongside the extended family of Crown-badged models. The rear badging confirms that the US-spec version of the model will be offered with a self-charging hybrid powertrain and it will come with AWD capabilities. This will most likely combine either a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter or a turbocharged 2.4-liter petrol engine with dual electric motors, as in other Toyota models. In Japan, the Toyota Crown Estate will also be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain option. Read more.
